My name is Jonathan Canady. I’m a visual artist, graphic designer, and former musician currently living in Portland, Oregon. I’ve been an avid film freak since the late ‘90s. I started this site as I spend a lot of time hunting for movies that don’t suck in the sea of streaming garbage. Why not share the diamonds I find among the trash, right?
As of late 2020, I have settled into posting around one recommendation every Friday, as I hope to eventually make Anomalous Cinema into a book. As of December, 2023 I do not keep old posts streaming info updated. The most recent twelve recommendations should all be available on the platform listed at the top. After that, the recommendation will have a link to JustWatch unless it is an original to whatever its platform is (Netflix originals, etc. normally don’t expire).
