My name is Jonathan Canady. I’m a visual artist, graphic designer, and musician currently living in Portland, Oregon. I’ve been an avid film freak since the late ‘90s. I started this site as I spend a lot of time hunting for movies that don’t suck in the sea of streaming garbage. Why not share the diamonds I find among the trash, right?
As of late 2020, I have settled into posting around one recommendation every Friday, as I hope to eventually make Anomalous Cinema into a book. However all posts on the website are updated pretty much every month. That means if a movie is on the site, it is still available to watch on it’s respective platform. I highly recommend using the tags to search. For instance, here’s all the films I recommend on Netflix.
